1. Altius Test Prep offers full-length practice exams and affordable MCAT prep tools.

Dear Pre-Professional Advisor:

You want to help students earn higher MCAT scores this year...Altius can help.
We are offering Altius full-length practice exams, already one of the most affordable MCAT prep tools, at an even greater value during the month of March. Students across the country consistently report that using Altius exams gave them an advantage...

"Many of the questions I saw on test day seemed like they came directly from the Altius practice materials."
Oleg Sostin, Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine

"The practice tests that Altius provided were very representative of the real MCAT.  The MCAT I saw on test day looked very familiar.”
Kyle Gashler, UT-Southwestern Medical Center

It is relatively inexpensive for students to add the Altius Full-Length MCAT Practice Exams to their arsenal of study resources. During the month of March, your students can take an additional 20% off. Students can even try their first Altius exam for FREE: https://altiustestprep.com/take_free.

Please forward the email below to your students. Altius exams come with one full year of access and include unlimited attempts. The coupon codes below are valid any time before 11:59 PM on March 31, 2018.

Thank you for making your students aware of this opportunity.

Warm Regards,

***PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL PRE-MEDICAL STUDENTS***

Dear Pre-meds:

While I do not endorse one MCAT preparation method or resource over another, Altius is offering sizeable discounts this month for students interested in full-length MCAT practice exams. Details are included below:

Message from Altius Test Prep...

MCAT in 2018? Self-study? Enrolled in a prep course?

Whether you are studying on your own, or have invested in a formal prep course, you can still boost your MCAT score significantly by practicing with full-length exams that more accurately mirror what you will see on test day.

  • More accurate figures. Status quo MCAT materials use figures that are too simple. Figures on the real MCAT can include up to a dozen or more experiments reported on a single graph or axis. Altius exams give you ample practice deciphering the most advanced figure types.
  • More accurate passage content. Unlike the real MCAT, most prep company practice passages are too conversational and easy-to-read. Students are then blind-sided on test day because real MCAT passages include dense scientific language and many acronyms. Altius exams allow you to regularly practice reading journal-based passages that are appropriately difficult.
  • More accurate question types.  In many cases, most of the questions on a status quo practice exam would never be on the real MCAT. Other resources over-use memorization and fact-based question types; they even ask you questions that have never been used by the AAMC. 100% of the Altius practice questions are mapped to a previous question type asked on a real MCAT.
  • Proven track record of matching the real MCAT.  Tens of thousands of students have used Altius materials and then taken the real MCAT. These students consistently report that the real MCAT looked exactly like their Altius practice exams. Students and advisors around the country are reporting excellent test-day outcomes after using these exams...

“There is NOT a difference between the Altius practice tests and the real exam. Every time you take an Altius practice exam you can pretend you’re actually taking the MCAT.  My real MCAT really did feel like the same thing.”
Online Review from Sterling Rosqvist, Altius Exam User

"Five stars! Representative of the real MCAT, and definitely worth the money."
Facebook Review from Kate Price, Altius Exam User

"Those who use the word "battle" to describe a student's efforts to conquer the MCAT can credibly and accurately
take the metaphor one step further by calling Altius tests "training with live ammo." It is clear that great efforts have been made to make these materials like the real thing, down to the smallest details."
Feedback from James Montren, Director of Pre-professional Advising at SUNY-Stony Brook

Test of male birth control pill shows few side effects

Reproductive hormone levels in men given a contraceptive pill were lowered enough to block sperm production without major side effects, according to findings presented at the annual meeting of the Endocrine Society. Dimethandrolone undecanoate, or DMAU, was tested on 83 men and will next move on to a clinical study that will examine sperm counts in study participants.

4.  For those of you interested in applying to dental school, you can start the 2019 ADEA AADSAS Cycle in Mid-May.

Gain Early Access: Start the 2019 ADEA AADSAS Cycle in Mid-May!

Ready? Set? Let’s Get Started! The 2019 ADEA AADSAS® (American Dental Education Association Associated American Dental Schools Application Service) “soft opens” on May 15, 2018, allowing applicants to start the 2018-2019 application three weeks prior to the official opening.

  • For advisors, encourage prospective students to take advantage of extra preparatory time. Prepare in mid-May, then submit as early as June 5, 2018.
  • For applicants, this added preparatory time ends the pressure to submit same-day, resulting in applications at-the-ready for submission on June 5, 2018.
  • The submission period runs from June 5, 2018 to February 1, 2019.

Top Benefits for Applicants

  • Gain Early Access. With an early start in mid-May, applicants may submit in early June once the cycle opens.
  • Plan Ahead. Applicants now have extra time to learn what the application requires and what is needed for its completion before having to submit it.
  • Submit Early. Now applicants may time a submission to submit in the month of June for an early submission.
  • Manage Application Costs. Applicants who request an ADEA Fee Assistance may obtain a decision in June.

The 2019 ADEA AADSAS Application Schedule

Starting May 15, 2018 *:

  • Applicants and reapplicants may begin to prepare the 2019 ADEA AADSAS application in mid-May. Added time for preparation allows applicants to submit early—June 5, 2018 is the first date to submit an ADEA AADSAS application.
  • Applicants can print the Transcript Matching Form and send it to their registrar’s office.
  • Applicants can request recommendation letters.
  • ADEA AADSAS will accept Dental Admission Test (DAT) scores from the American Dental Association (ADA).
  • Applicants requesting funding from the ADEA Fee Assistance Program (FAP) can mail the required documents to ADEA AADSAS.

* Of Note: Advisors may also create a 2019 ADEA AADSAS “test” application starting May 15.

 Starting June 5, 2018:

  • Applicants and reapplicants, make the choice to submit early—June 5, 2018 is the first date to submit an ADEA AADSAS application.
  • If all official transcripts are received, ADEA AADSAS will start the application verification process.
  • Applicants who submitted all required documents for ADEA Fee Assistance will begin receiving decision statuses.

Questions? Review the ADEA AADSAS instructions on ADEA GoDental or contact the ADEA AADSAS Customer Service Team at aadsasinfo@aadsasweb.org, or 617.612.2045.
