Healthcare in a Changing Environment: Connecting Patients to Services

Shantelle Leatherwood, MHA,CMPE

Chief Executive Officer

Christ Community Health Services

The Christ Community Story: Healthcare is changing throughout the country. The way patients receive services and how healthcare providers address patients’ needs are undergoing fundamental change.  At Christ Community and in our community, we face an additional challenge.  Many of our patients come to us with deep-seated emotional, financial, spiritual and physical needs.  We work with them, through a team approach, to take care of their healthcare needs.  Our medical providers also emphasize spiritual as well as behavioral health to address societal problems that ultimately impact the overall health of our patients.  Importantly, the Patient Centered Medical Home model has moved us forward in improving both the continuity and overall quality of comprehensive and team-based patient care.

Time:         Wednesday, April 26, 2017.  Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and presentation at 12:00 noon

6.  Church Health is now working with AmeriCorps VISTA to recruit a team of Community Engagement workers. The students will be paid through AmeriCorps, but will be supervised by Church Health.

Hello All!

We have a wonderful opportunity for students that may be interested in real world experience before they go off to graduate school. Church Health is now working with AmeriCorps VISTA to recruit a team of Community Engagement workers. The students will be paid through AmeriCorps, but will be supervised by Church Health. This program is designed to create a sustainable community outreach program which helps to lift people out of poverty. They will receive a living wage which will simulate living at the poverty level and AmeriCorps will also provide an education stipend at the end of their service. It will be a challenging, but exciting opportunity.

Please forward to any interested parties. I will be supervising this group and will do whatever I can to make this a meaningful experience. Thank you so much.

8.  Marginalia:  And a good time was had by all – pictures from this year’s Dinstuhl’s Gourmet Chocolate Tasting Event.

To really appreciate good chocolate, you have to employ all of your senses, particularly your senses of smell and taste.  Our guide in this enterprise is Ms. Marian Hughes, Manager of the Dinstuhl’s location at the Laurelwood Shopping Center, pictured here with a cluster of door prizes which were awarded at the end of the program:

The person who was given the awesome responsibility of distributing the samples was Thomas Summers, CBU alumnus:

Of course, before you partake of the flavor, you really must enjoy the fragrance:

THEN, and ONLY THEN, can you partake of the flaaaaaaaaaaaavor:

Most certainly, a good time was had by all…
