Below is a list of recent donations that have made a big difference in the quality of our equipment and facilities:
- Spring, 2007: Robert and Susan Wilson and the Assisi Foundation have made significant donations to go along with the Plough Foundation (see item below)
and an anonymous major donor so that we have begun the construction
of the Cooper-Wilson Center for Life Sciences buidling and the the major renovation of our present Science building.
- Fall, 2006: The Plough Foundation has awarded CBU a $2.5 million grant to expand the University's
science facilities.
- Spring, 2006: The Kemmons Wilson Family Foundation of Memphis will provide a $250,000 scholarship fund for
juniors and seniors majoring in the sciences.
- For the seventh year (2007) in a row, CBU is participating in a National
Institute of Health - Minority
International Research Training grant.
- The Assisi Foundation has awarded CBU a grant for $3 million dollars for
a three year project starting in 2003. Of this amount, about $650,000 is
for chemistry equipment and the renovation of some chemistry labs. The
chemistry equipment includes a new Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) instrument!
- Thanks to an endowed fund from the Shaping Sciences Project, this summer
and for the summers to come, we have faculty working to improve the labs,
lectures, and web pages in the school.
- Spring, Summer and Fall 2000: Thanks to the third major grant in our Shaping
Sciences project from the Assisi Foundation, we bought more biology laboratory
equipment for use in our biology lab courses. This includes a new scanning
electron microscope.
- Summer 2000: We had 15 of our science faculty members working on course
development projects thanks in large part to a grant from the Thomas Briggs
Foundation.
- Spring, Summer and Fall '99: Thanks to the second major grant in our Shaping
Sciences project from the Assisi Foundation, we bought more biology laboratory
equipment for use in Microbiology, Cell Biology, Neuroscience and Vertebrate
Physiology.
- Summer '99: We added multimedia capabilities to four biology labs and two
classrooms (S214 and S112) this summer thanks to a second major grant in
our Shaping Sciences project from the Assisi Foundation. This makes all
six classrooms in the Science Building fully multimedia capable.
- Summer '99: We had 16 of our science faculty members working on course
development projects thanks in large part to a grant from the Thomas Briggs
Foundation.
- Fall '98 and Spring '99: We significantly upgraded the equipment in our
neuroscience laboratory thanks to an NSF DUE grant. In addition, we received
some valuable equipment from St. Francis Hospital that supports our electron
microscope and our Cell/Molecular Biology lab.
