    beta beta beta is a national biology honor society for undergraduates. 
    "Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is a society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research."
    • The award winning CBU (Mu Tau) Chapter of beta beta beta also serves as a Biology Club welcoming interested students to participate in a variety of social and career related activities.
    • Dr. Ogilvie is the faculty advisor for BBB.

  • How to Join CBU's Chapter of Beta Beta Beta
    If you are interested in joining the Mu Tau (CBU) chapter of beta beta beta, there are two levels of membership, Associate and Full:
     
  • The requirements for Associate Membership include the following:
  • Currently enrolled full-time student at CBU
  • Completed at least one BIOL course (including lab) at CBU with grades of C or better in lecture and lab [current Freshmen can qualify]
  • Interested in Biology and in Beta Beta Beta
  • Minimum cum GPA of 2.0
  • Dues are $35 (National dues) [One payment for lifetime membership.]
  • Chapter dues are generally $5.00 per semester.
  • The requirements for Full Membership in the honor society include the following:
    • Currently enrolled full-time student at CBU
    • Minimum of 36 total credits completed
    • Minimum cum GPA of 3.2 and minimum BIOL GPA of 3.0
    • Minimum of 3 BIOL courses successfully completed at CBU (lab and lecture count as one course).
    • Dues are $45 National dues ($10 if being promoted from Associate).  [One payment for lifetime membership.]
    • Chapter dues are generally $5.00 per semester.
    • Full members are entitled to wear the Beta Beta Beta honor cord or honor medallion at graduation.  BBB National Office Form for ordering Honor Cords
    • An induction ceremony for the induction of new and promoted members is held in February or March  each year. [Meanwhile, you can still participate in most chapter activities.] 
    If you qualify for either of the membership categories and you are interested in joining beta beta beta, please contact Dr. Ogilvie.  Dr. Ogilvie will need an UNofficial copy of your transcript.  If you qualify for membership, you will need to give Dr. Ogilvie a check made out to Christian Brothers University for the appropriate amount ($35 associate, $10 promotion, or $45 full membership).  Payment must be received by Dr. Ogilvie before the annual induction ceremony.
    • Full and Associate members receive certificates and a subscription to Bios.
    • Full members are entitled to wear the Beta Beta Beta honor cord or honor medallion at graduation.

    Beta Beta Beta Receives Student Life Awards 26 April 2010
    The CBU Office of Student Life recognizes outstanding students and student organizations for their commitment to organizational and Lasallian principles.

    Organization of the Year: this award highlight the organization that has positively aligned itself with the mission of its own organization and the university. Ultimately, this organization has proved to be an outstanding asset to the university and is the ideal student organization. 

    • 2010 CBU Student Organization of the Year presented to the Mu tau chapter of Beta Beta Beta by CBU Student Life
    Advisor of the year: Advisors continually assume integral roles of being a friend, mentor, and advocate for students and student organizations. This award recognizes the advisor who has unselfishly given their time and talent to assist a CBU campus organization.
    • 2010 Advisor of the Year presented to Dr. Mary Ogilvie, Professor of Biology, faculty advisor to BBB
    The Sadie Lisenby Award:  For over 20 years, Ms. Sadie has been an important fixture of the CBU campus community.  Throughout her tenure, she has used her talents to create impactful programming opportunities for CBU, fostered a caring environment for all students, and has been a beacon of light for lay people across the world.  The recipient of this award has too embellished the qualities of Ms. Sadie Lisenby through their efforts on campus, the Memphis community, or the world.

      • Dr. Eisen and students from BBB and ACS met Ms. Nikia Johnson, a member of ALSAC, the fund-raising arm of St. Jude 2:30 p.m. Friday, 10 November 2000 for a short tour of the hospital and a brief ceremony to present a check for money raised during the Youth & Vitality  vs. Age & Deceit BBB~ACS charity fundraiser - basketball game
        • Ms. Johnson says that the best way to get to St. Jude is to go north on East Parkway to Summer and turn left.  Summer Avenue turns into North Parkway, and North Parkway merges with Jackson as it approaches St. Jude.  That will take you right past St. Jude Hospital.
