The School of Sciences hosted a Reception in honor of Drs. Morgan, Gulde, and Wescott 
upon the occasion of their retirement.
The Reception was held in the Science Building on Friday, 27 April from 2:30--4:00 p.m.

  • Gulf Coast Field Trip 2001 
    • Students in the Ecology, Vertebrate Physiology, and Invertebrate Zoology courses participated in the field trip.  The faculty participants were Dr. Trey Brown, Dr. Malinda Fitzgerald, and Bro. Edward Salgado. 
    • Itinerary: 
      • Arrive Thursday evening, April 5:  Dinner; Post-dinner sampling at beach
      • Friday, April 6:  Boat Trip & Tour
      • Saturday, April 7:  a.m. - lab work and touring bay area with skiff; p.m. - release at 1 p.m.

  • Bioethics Workshop As part of the MIRT grant, CBU Biology hosted a bioethics workshop 30 and 31 March 2001.
    • Dr. Terrance Ackerman from UT discussed the following topics: 
      • Institutional Review and Animal Care and Use Committees
      • History of clinical and experimental studies
      • Ethics of animal and clinical research
      • Global bioethics

    Weird Science:  "Oh my goodness, what on Earth is Dr. Eisen up to now?"
    • An informal research project was recently completed at CBU.   Take a look at the images and see if you can discern the scientific method in their madness.
    • Dr. Eisen's report on the "burst test" research appears in the special "Valentine's Day" issue of Caduceus  (subscribe by contacting Dr. Eisen).  [Disclaimer:  This particular issue of Caduceus is  intended to be humorous.  Those who are easily offended are cautioned.]

    • A charity fundraiser organized by BBB and ACS. Tuesday, 24 October 2000 at 6:00 pm in De La Salle Gymnasium.

      • Proceeds have been donated to De La Salle School at Blessed Sacrament and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donations are still being accepted.
