NACE-LINK "SEARCH AGENTS" - DID YOU KNOW?

You can set up your Nace-Link account to automatically notify you when jobs have recently been posted that match the type of job that you're seeking...it'll notify you daily, weekly, monthly, or on any schedule you choose!  Just follow these steps to set up your own personal "Search Agent".

* Log in to your Account, and select "Listings From CBU Career Center" under the Jobs & Internships tab.
* Click on "Advanced Search".
* Check the "Save As" box, and select a name for your Search Agent (example, "Marketing Search")
* Fill in as many or as few of the remaining parameters as you prefer, then click "Submit" at the bottom of the page.

  >> You'll then see a listing of all current results that match the criteria you just entered.

* Next, click the "Search Agent" tab.  (You should see the title of the Search Agent that you just ran.)
* Underneath the name of the agent, click the "Schedule" button.  Then change the "Enabled" button from "no" to "yes".
* You'll then see "Period" and "Multiple" fields appear.  These buttons will control how frequently you receive the Search Agent results.

  >> For example, if you want to receive a message every 3 days, select "Day" in the period field, and "3" in the multiple field.
  >> You can then also select whether or not to include only new results from the last run period, or all results.

* Click "Submit" and that's it!

  >> You can set up multiple Search Agents if you wish for different types of positions.  It's a powerful tool to help keep you informed of new job opportunities as they become available!

The Five Most Destructive Phrases In Business
From Inc. (3/28/2013)

How often have you been in a productive business meeting only to have it come to a grinding halt because of something someone said? It happens all the time.

A negative comment or a pessimistic concern can not only bring down morale, it can derail an entire strategy. I am convinced that there is no limit to what a team can accomplish if they were to eliminate these five destructive phrases.    Read the full article from Inc.com...

Time To Negotiate For A Raise?  Here's How...
From Forbes.com (4/25/2013)

Dear Annie: The article that appeared on your site about Gen Y women closing the pay gap resonated with me, because I am a 26-year-old female e-commerce manager making about 20% less than I'm worth on the open market -- at least, according to all the research I've done (and two recruiters I've spoken with). What happened was, I accepted this job at a low salary in 2009 because I had only about a year of experience at that point and because, in the worst of the recession, I felt lucky to be working at all.

Since then, I've expanded our business significantly, hired and trained some real stars, and made other important contributions, but I've still gotten just the standard 2.5% annual raise everybody here gets, and I think I deserve more. I love working here and would rather not leave, but my negotiation skills are not so great, and budgets are still tight. Can you recommend any specific things to say to my boss, or not say? -- Just Jill    Read the full article from Forbes.com...
